How does Aamir Khan choose his films?

How does Aamir Khan choose his movies? This may well be a good 'how to' question to the Ace Khan who strikes gold everytime. 3 Idiots, Ghajini, Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti: all of these Aamir Khan films have broken the records of his previous films and have set milestones in their own right. So how does Aamir Khan pick his films?

Let us hear from Aamir in his interview to Stardust magazine. He says, "It has to do with the passion of the film-maker. Imagine we are sitting at a party in the midst of 20 poeple and I tell you: Share with me interesting anecdotes of yur life, some fascinating story or exciting story that has happened with you. You wil think about what to say, and after 5 minutes, come with some story"

Aamir continues, "Now here is another example. The same party is going on with the same 20 people sitting. The same music is playing. But you ring the bell, walk in and say, "Guess what guys what happened' And because you have a story to tell, you will tell it well. There may be a technical fault with the story but if you are telling it from your heart, you will hit home. When Rakeysh Mehra narrated 'Rang De Basanti' to me, I thought it was a bizarre script. The story of Bhagat Singh and Azad had come four times before and and the last of those four, had released two months ago and flopped, at that time. I remember telling to Rakeysh Mehra, " Arrey Abhi toh flop hui last waali' But I could see that he was dying to tell a story. Of course, I loved the script and the screenplay.
