Golmaal 3 movie Review: Best Entertainer of 2010

The smart fools are back again to light up the screen this Diwali with aplomb. This has been one movie that generated considerable word of mouth publicity due to the tried and tested Golmaal Brand. Let us see if Golmaal 3 as the first Indian trilogy can rock the box-office like its predecessors.

Story: Golmaal 3 is the story of two sets of siblings. Ajay Devgn(Gopal) lives with his brother Shreyas Talpade(Laxman), mom Ratna Pathak Shah(Geeta aka Guddi) and his girl pal Kareena Kapoor(Daboo). Arshad Warsi(Madhav), Tusshar Kapoor(Lucky) and Kunal Khemu(Laxman) live with their father Mithun Chakraborty(Pritam). Trouble brews in when the foster parents decide to rekindle their relationship and even consider marriage. But the problem is that the warring children are no way interested in giving them the green signal.

Plus points of Golmaal 3: The Golmaal 3 franchise is high on humor and has clever one- liners reminiscent of Rohit Shetty films, and nonsensical situations. It would have not been easy to make a movie which has so many characters but Rohit manages to make every character stand-out by working on their character traits. Ajay Devgn’s angry outburst, Arshad’s roguish streak, Tusshar’s familiar verbal engima and Sanjay Mishra’s funny spelling errors ..all raise a lot of laughs. This is the most colorful, vibrant Rohit Shetty movie, definitely is a visual spectacle that can grace the big screen.

Golmaal 3 is more style than substance but then the style is substantial enough. The writers Yunus Sajawal and dialogue writers Farhad-Sajid and Bunty Rathore have come up with wacky stuff again .The screenplay hardly gives you time to think, the dialogues are spot-on with witty, outrageous but clean dialogues. The action scenes by Jai Singh Nijjar and the cinematography by Dudley are commendable.
Performances in Golmaal 3:
It is injustice to single out one actor because this clearly is a wonderful team effort. Ajay Devgn who is going through his best phase in 2010, has been given a grunge look with cropped hair, diamond studs et all. He plays the hyper, do-no-mess-with-me character superbly.

Kareena Kapoor’s character is brilliantly written and nicely executed. She packs in well as one of the boys. Bebo has a vibrant, bindaas role of Dabboo, an orphan, who wants to create a Hum Saath Saath Hain out of the warring situation. This is one of the better roles of Kareena Kapoor, bright and bubbly; which she performs with such aplomb

At the cost of exaggeration, one can say Tusshar does the best job in the speech marvel, looks like this is purely his domain and no one can get past through him here. To add to this, he has introduced a new dimension that rakes in more laughter. There is one emotional scene that stands out as well. Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Khemu also enact their characters very well. Arshad is a pure treat and performs with gusto.

Mithun Chakraborty and Ratna Pathak Shah are adorable, while Johnny Lever is too good in his role. As a hare-brained thief Johnny Lever and his absentmindedness can make you ache with laughter. In recent times only Rohit Shetty has been able to elicit his best, be it in All the Best or Golmaal 3. The regulars Vrajesh Hirejee Murli Sharma, Viju Khote, Mukesh Tiwari, Ashwini Kalsekar and Sanjay Mishra have their own fan following by now and they do a brilliant job.

Conclusion: G3 is a full on entertainer. The best entertainer of 2010, Golmaal 3..Go for It!

Rated: ****(Very Good)
