Jodhaa Akbar, first hit of the year 2008?

Jodhaa Akbar has by and large has elicited a mixed response from viewers. Jodhaa Akbar has reportedly had an 80 percent response week and earned Rs. 24.75 crore at the first week. Add to this, the overseas collection and Jodhaa Akbar has made Rs. 38.5 crore.

Compare Jodhaa Akbar to the last year’s biggest blockbuster Om Shanti Om, and the movie stands nowhere near the picture ( no pun intended). The figure earned by Jodhaa Akbar, according to Times of India is lower than the low on intellect “Welcome” that had a stupendous opening of Rs 39 crores within a matter of 5 days. From second week, Jodhaa Akbar has experienced a drop in collection but the movie continued unperturbed till last week. It is believed that the box office status of Jodhaa Akbar can be likened to the mixed bag hit of 2007, Guru.
