It was clear that Chitrangada Singh would be the villain alongside Vivek Oberoi in one of the most anticipated films of the near future, Krrish 2. However, the recent development is that Chitrangada has decided to walk out of the project.
Director Rakesh Roshan said, “I was to start my film in October and took dates accordingly. Now, the film is going on floors in December and Chitrangda is having some problems with her dates then. She has already committed her dates to some other project in December and cannot delay it. So I am looking for some actor who can give the dates according to my schedule.” He did not say that he had decided to zero in one any other actress as replacement but sources close to the project confirm that Jacqueline has been roped in.
An eyewitness and source who is a part of the project divulged to the media, “Hrithik and Rakeshji jointly met Jacqueline for a script reading session that went on for more than 3 hours. By the end of the session, Jacqueline seemed to be quite interested about doing the film.”
Though Rakesh Roshan has cited date problem as the real reason behind Chitrangada’s walkout, the truth is that she felt sidelined in the film. When she read the final script, she was surprised to see that her role had been shortened to such an extent that she looked nothing more than a prop in the film. Chitrangada’s friend says, ‘When the the final script emerged, she realized that her role was reduced to something of a cameo. And she did not have time for useless cameos.” As evident by her films, Chitrangada consciously chooses to go for scripts that give more teeth to her role rather than fleeting ones.
