Bollywood heroines give their best performances in a Madhur Bhandarkar film. There are reasons for this; barring ‘Jail’ and ‘Dil toh Bachcha Hai Ji’, his films are always women-oriented, with more substance and scope to perform. He makes his characters go through thick and thin, which help them extract brilliant performances. Who can forget the enviable role that Priyanka Chopra got in Fashion, where her character got to express everything-love, vanity, lust, rejection, fear, anger, sloth, regret, despair and victory. Needless to say,Priyanka Chopra’s best performance has been in Fashion. Ditto for Kangna Ranaut who gave her best performance in the same film
Bipasha Basu gave her best performance in Corporate, her character also had an intriguing streak which went from vanity to the vulnerable. Raveena Tandon has given her best performance in the lesser known movie Satta, a bold take on politics. One does not have to talk about the career-best performance of Tabu in Chandni Bar. Konkona Sen Sharma was also wonderful in Traffic Signal and Page 3. Speaking of Page 3, Kareena Kapoor was the original choice of the film, she had rejected it and the role fell on Konkona’s lap . She also rejected Heroine because of the hot scenes in the film that she was not comfortable with. But finally, she has given her consent; let us see if Kareena Kapoor in Heroine is also able to whip up her best performance.
