Film director Jagmohan Mundhra is dead, he died on Sunday according to his family. He was 62.
Mundhra, who was in the hospital for the last three days, had a major cardiac arrest that led to his death. His His cremation was held at the Shivaji Park cemetery, Dadar at 6.30 pm on Sunday.

Jagmohan Mundhra was known for issue oriented films like Bawandar, which had Nandita Das in leading role, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan-starrer Provoked. An IIT student from Mumbai, he had gone to the US to study electrical engineering but went on to do marketing and then wrote a thesis on marketing techniques adopted by Hollywood and Bollywood. Then he finished his PhD and taught at Californai where he became close to Hollywood. In 1979, he directed his first Hollywood film.

Jagmohan Mundhra was lauded and frowned for the erotic content in his Hollywood films that included The Jigsaw Murders (1988), Halloween Night (1988), Night Eyes (1990), LA Goddess (1993), Sexual Malice (1994) and Tales of the Kama Sutra 2: Monsoon (1998).

Then he began to direct Hindi films that were mostly issue based. Jagmohan Mundhra's second last film that met with a lukewarm response was Apartment starring Tanushree Dutta and Neetu Chandra. His last film Naughty@40, starring Govinda didn't find much takers. But he was still upbeat about shooting a political satire called Kissa Kutte ka that would star Tannishtha Chatterjee, Seema Biswas and Raghubir Yadav. May his soul rest in peace.
