Katrina Kaif is one of the most popular mainstream actresses in Bollywood with numerous hits to her credit. She has also acted in a few Telugu and Malayalam films. Katrina Kaif was born in Hong Kong to Kashmiri father Mohammed Kaif and English mother, Susanna Turquotte. Both of them were British citizens and drifted when she was a little girl. Ayesha Shroff who produced Boom says that the actress’s original name is Katrina Turquotte.
Katrina Kaif has six sisters and one brother. When she was still a little kid, her family moved along with her to China, and then to Japan. When she was 8, Katrina was in France and then kept on shutting with her family across many countries in Europe like Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, France and many European countries. Then she moved away with her family to Hawaii, and then eventually came to England where she spent her teenage years before she shifted to Mumbai.

Katrina Kaif began her modeling career at the age of 14, her first assignment being one for a jewelery company. She worked under contract for a modeling agency in London, called Models 1 Agency and also did campaign for fashion houses like Arcadius and La Senza. Katrina Kaif likes to stay away from controversies but since she is extremely popular and a visible face in the media, her words and presence have invited a few controversies which faded eventually.
1. Though Katrina Kaif was not directly responsibility, the infamous Salman Khan – Shah Rukh Khan fight happened at her birthday party on July 16, 2008. The fight turned out to be so ugly that SRK and Salman Khan still do not speak to each other. Katrina however, is cordial with both of them. However, since then, the hassle-free actress has decided to celebrate birthdays with her family only in London.

2. In one of her interviews, Katrina Kaif found herself in line for fire when she said, “I am half Indian as Rahul Gandhi.” She said, "I am very proud of what I am and I just don't understand the confusion – as if I'm trying to hide the fact that my mother's British. Why would I ? "Am I supposed to be ashamed that I am half Asian, half European? I mean, no! Rahul Gandhi is half Indian, half Italian. So?" But then a section of media and party workers said that Katrina Kaif was accusing Rahul Gandhi of being a half Indian. The actress said that she had no ulterior motives in her sentence and was just a natural reaction, considering people were spreading remakrs about her passport, surname and ethnic background.
